Sometimes dodgey petrol stations / suppliers use Acetone in their fuel mix , not good at all for painted surfaces .

Re: 38 years of Custom Auto Chassis Eng.
The petrol station where 98 octane spilled onto my acrylic paint and melted it was a "BP" servo.
I would have thought their blend would have no nasties.
Wrong, it ate my paint in a few seconds flat.
By the time I had run around to the other side where the spill occured it was too late.
Thankfully my next rod will run on "straight L.P.G."
Mick.

Ron, cast your mind back to the Victorian Hot rod Show about 3 years ago.
I was talking to you and Carps out the front.
Inside there was a 39 Chev 4 door that was painted in a colour called "Rose mist" with the upper half of the body black.
If I could have found the paint code for that colour I would have my Chrysler Coupe painted that colour.
It was bloody beautiful.
So you "never say never".
Mick.

...or maybe some faux wood?
...... ...... sorry.....ain't got a lot to show right now, busy stripping paint off the 46 Coupe and cleaning off 40 odd years of accumulated surface rust from the roof and top of the cowl....plus doing some metal finessing , not real interesting subject matter. Same with the Chevy sedan delivery, been fitting up front sheetmetal to check the ride height, fender clearance and wheel centering , then fooling around changing the radiator supports and fender mounting setup to accomodate the biggest radiator we can squeeze in the hole , plus fixing up some body mount stress cracks and assorted small bits of damage resulting from belting around the states for 50 odd years. Made up the brake pedal , made up some torque reaction struts and a c/member for the Jag rear.......made up and fitted the front shocks and mounts for the big Jag bit in the front , ripped the front springs out of said Jag bit , fixed up some of the firewall damage and mounted the heater and demister setup and did a little parts chasing to get some of the gear to make a car out of it......plus did some really exciting stuff like get all the tarry shit off the inside of the firewall and front floor as well as some mega deep tar deposits inside the front fenders , and then made and welded in the little filler pieces to close up the holes where the l/h/drive pedals and steering were , worked out where the r/h/d pedal was to be mounted and blew a nice hole with the plasma cutter in the appropriate place on the toeboard for it live.......also spent a fair whack of time planning what was going to go where , what seats to use, fuel tank and spare wheel placement, which wiper system to use to get the best coverage of the screen,etc,etc......all the visually non interesting stuff that helps make the car a pleasant and safe jigger to drive ........got a few snaps in the camera , but nothing to get boned up about.......
.....oh yeah, also been putting the Willys back together again too......hope to have it finished and out in the daylight again tomorrow.....stay tuned!
