Right, silly me, should have known better. ( Had a twin ignition Nash a long time ago. 6cyl, 12 plugs ) Exhaust manifold on this little rig says 4 cyl.

Re: straight eight ??
That intake manifold looks like it is setup for a Stromberg 97 or 94 carb .
Looks interesting.Any other information available?

Re: straight eight ??
Interesting... The green Bean in the post above doesn't have the intake ports in the block between the exhaust ports like the top photos. Maffra, do you have any shots of the other side of that one?

Re: straight eight ??
Hi Dany,
I did notice the apparent lack of intake ports near the exhaust ports.
Photo of the other side Yep , sure do and here it is . . .
The intake manifold appears to be a single entry into the middle of the block on this side, which is bottom left of the magneto in this pic . . . and this matches up with a bit of quick research I did on some photos in a book I have about the Francis Birtles Bean.
Wonder whether the block in the original photos has been modified . . . or it is something other than a Bean . . . a bit more research in order
Regards

Pretty much the same. Just a bit more patina.

Re: straight eight ??
Could it just be a later model Bean. The dizzy positions are different, but the magneto and generator positions appear to be the same. Maybe the dizzy was swapped to the other side to accommodate the change of side for the intake. I didn't realise the Bean's ran a magneto and dizzy combination. Looks like one set of plugs fired off the magy and one set fired from the coil and dizzy.
These 'bones' may have some racing history and would make a good historic racing resto. Be interesting to see if had a past.

Remember this life is a test. If it had been a real life you would have received further instructions on where to go and what to do!!!!!

Yes it would, and note the hairpin front end as well . . . .woody28A wrote:These 'bones' may have some racing history and would make a good historic racing resto. Be interesting to see if had a past.
