1969 Capri to ford 5 stud
Guys, mucking around with a 69 Capri, and want to upgrade to falcon 5 stud pattern with vented rotors, it already has what look to be xw rotors but I'm not convinced they are seated corrected, the tyre/rim is pretty close to the strut and it doesn't have any callipers as yet
I know there are kits from hoppers, CRS and UPC, but the kits run from about 800 to 1500, is there any combo of 'off the shel'f /standard parts that you have used ?
Thanks
Warren

Hi Warren.
Can you explain "not seated" ? Fyi The rotors if XW will be DBA106H now, they originally were a hat type with removable hub used from XW to early XB with the smaller wheel hub .You will find that the wheel face to inner rotor face to be 75mm .
DBA 107 XB-XF with the larger wheel hub has a measurement of 108mm that will increase track, This should push the wheel further out . Use XW cups and bearings in the later rotor if your axles already suit the XW .
Hope some of this helps .

Re: 1969 Capri to ford 5 stud
Ok got in the shed tonight
Definetly has xw old style rotors and its the rear bearing seal that doesn't match the capri stub So smaller inner diameter( about 41mm) seals are required if i stick with the xw's discs but i cant get a split pin in the threaded end of stub nut is flush with stub end
Had some old xf rotors so switched the bearings into them same problem as expected with inner seal but notice i can get more exposed thread to almost get a split pin in the threaded end, thinner retaining nut and will work
Both appear to be 75mm tall (rear rotor face to wheel mount face)
Test fitted some vl finned callipers but the pad contact area is about 50%.... bolt holes almost line up but need a spacer and not keen on slotting callipers as the mounts holes have limited area
So i tried some vx commodore calipers the holes are same as VL spacing but making an adapter with the bolts on top of each other will prove difficult unless i slot the holes on calliper or drilling out strut mounts and insert a spacer
i think so will look at VE calipers as there bolt spacing is larger hopefully allowing room to bolt spacer to strut ( pretty sure this is what the upc kit is using) and calliper the spacer
Will edit with pics if they ever load up !

Re: 1969 Capri to ford 5 stud
Hi Warren. The different offsets of the rotors I provided look excessive . I have just measured a pair of DBA 107 XE-XF rotors I had removed from my Mustang when I fitted brand new DBA106H with the smaller wheel hub .. The later rotors are indeed 75mm . My DBA catalogue with 108mm is wrong .

Re: 1969 Capri to ford 5 stud
I used capri struts in my Mk2 Escort and done the XF falcon disc conversion.
The capri wheel bearings are much smaller, an adapter ring is used over the capri stub so the standard XF bearings and discs can be used, and about 9 or 10 mm (only going from memory now as it was over 10 years ago) was machined out of the rear of the XF disc rotor so the rear bearing sat 10mm further inside the rotor due to the shorter capri stub axle length. This does bring the disc, caliper and entire wheel closer tot he strut, but it also keeps it under the standard guards.

Re: 1969 Capri to ford 5 stud
Thanks for the info, i havent progressed any further just been stockpiling parts for it
I will keep researching for stock parts combo as i dont have the equipment for machining etc
Worst case i will just buy a kit from UPC, CRS or hoppers
