anyone put a single rail behind a y block?

pretty sure from memory that a toploader was a bolt up deal to a yblock so a single rail should fit okay.....
cheers joe

I'm pretty sure the top loader/single rail bolts up to the original Y block bell housing.
If it has tits or wheels, you can expect trouble.

Re: Y Block to singlerail???
A bloke that worked for me years ago had a 1959 F100 with Y block and a rooted original 4 speed box, him and his mate fitted a top loader to it in my shop and it only took a day. Also search through Oldcol's history here as he showed how easy it was a few years back.
If it has tits or wheels, you can expect trouble.

Re: Y Block to singlerail???
Toploader, the narrow inner bolt pattern is the same as Cussy, Spinner and Studebaker....single rail isn't so you'd have to redrill the bellhousing at the very least...but I suspect the pattern is wider across than the bellhousing pattern and bolt face. The rest of the conversion will be the same as what I showed to fit the Topoloader to the late Flathead bell, clutch is the same as Falcon/Cusso.
...PS...the boxes are good, the shifters are shit. Shifter parts are next to obsolete and there are a myriad of variations of them ( don't ask how I found this out,it ain't pleasant) .Unless you have a box with a mint shifter, you may wish to reconsider the plan and just use a Topoader
