front tailshaft yolk
Good morning
To all those smarter than me out there (just about everyone), I'm looking for some help.
I have a 2L Cortina engine in my current project with an auto. I these cars the front yolk was a rubber donut, which I wish to change to a universal/standard type setup. Does anyone know which if any gearbox yolk they are the same as?
All help appreciated

Re: front tailshaft yolk
Ford seemed to use a standard spline and front yoke on most of it's trannies through the 70's - 80's .
Do you have a yoke from a c4 you could try ?

Most of the cortina,s ran a Borg Warner 35 auto, (the 2 litre escorts ran a C3), but I think the yolks were all the same.

Re: front tailshaft yolk
well I tried BW35/ C4 and they are way too big. The original is much smaller than this. The search continues.

Re: front tailshaft yolk
The info I have says that is a 25 spline output. Some of the early Falcons used that spline, as did some Mopars around the same time
People who think they know it all, bother those of us that do.

Re: front tailshaft yolk
Do you know what year/model Cortina the motor and box came out of. It sounds like it might have come out of a mark 2 Escort. See if anyone is wrecking Escorts for a yolk or at least the size to give you an idea.

Re: front tailshaft yolk
hey enjenjo
it is indeed a 25 spline yolk. At least I now know what I'm looking for. Unsure what it came out of, so will contact our resident Escort/Cortina expert who lives locally.
I do have the original yolk and donut out of it, but am reluctant to use it due to the angle of the tailshaft because of the low ride height and very tall tyres it will be carrying.

Re: front tailshaft yolk
Back in the 70,s and 80,s I had quite a few Escorts, mostly manuals, which had normal uni,s. I think only the auto had a rubber Uni. But I am thinking about 40 years ago.
