I'm planning to upgrade mine in the pickup. At present I just have the stock Chev one in the TH350 behind a mild 283. It has a 3.5:1 diff and 28" tyres.
When it is idling (around 800rpm) it is already 'catching'. When I take off it doesn't let the engine rev at all. I thought a higher stall would help it launch a bit harder, but don't want to get too high.
So, which should I get; more importantly which to avoid.
What brand of Torque Converter?

seeing your from Newcastle, there is a place in Wickam I think called precision auto's, its on indusrial drive near the ampol or was 3-4 yr ago, he will give you good advice and would help out locally......I'm running a 2500 stall in a 390hp 351 27 roadster which is very good on the street and have a 2200 stall in 340hp 308 stroker 37 chev sedan, both are hardly noticeable until you stall up at the lights....
I want to go back to Alaska, its too damm hot
