Hardwood does a better job than the balsa welding rods.
I never make the same mistake twice, I do it 5 or 6 times just to be sure !!!

Andy, Andy, Andy this is col you are asking. :o :o :o
...ha ha...well ,Andy is onto it. What I am planning to do is "conserve" ( ya like that? ), the original 1941 timbers. Most of it is pretty good, some of it is excellent. There are a number of joints that have opened up over the years and most if not all of the glue has dried out....and there's a bit of shrinkage here and there as befits an elderly gent like this   ....and I think having the original timbers does make it pretty special. I'm not trying to build a work of art with this, just make it a nice job and if at the end there are a few blokes who don't like the odd blemish here and there...too bad,eh?
Best way, Col. The trend these days is to preserve what's usable and above all, original. Way better to be "genuine".
And most of us blokes prefer the "blemishes". Adds character.... (to the car, too!)
Cant wait for that build thread to restart :P
Yeah. I've changed my signature. The old one was out of date...

members only account it's easy to access and all the new posts are there.

Thanks, explained to who by who and when?? I never heard a thing about it although I am on the OZRODDERS FB page. Nothing seems to happen there, certainly not the threads we have here where we can go back and look through a build history like this thread. Am I on the wrong page on FB ??? This is the one I am on. https://www.facebook.com/groups/20551647601

Exactly , try doing a build thread on facebook like a lot of guys have on here , or for instance Col's thread that this is in .
It's just not possible on facebook as it turns into a jumbled mess .
Same with the oz e rodders facebook page , nothing really happens on there either .
Everyone deserted here for facebook saying it's better , when it ain't .

Three-hundred and ninety-five pages of top shelf entertainment - engineering, design, problem solving, limitless experience, fun banter and just a whole bunch of other grouse stuff.
Thanks Col and Kris for the influence... :) A hard earned retirement!

Ironbark welds good
If it has tits or wheels, you can expect trouble.
