Cheers Graham, you've been real help with that info.
FPI, had me gong for a bit, fins per inch, I guess that's not the population density of Finland.
I hate watching the temp gauge in a car so even if I move the fan to the rear and it works that's not going to be good enough for me.
I reckon you need at least 20% spare cooling capacity, especially in this country.
The tanks on the Austin are really too small for the size of outlets I have (38 & 45mm) so even if I were to stick with it I'd be spending money on having new ones made.
Better to just bite the bullet and get something that I know will work.
I did budget for a new radiator anyway so I'll put out some inquiries this week. The PWR radiators look good. Anyone had any dealings with them?

Recommending someone is a hard thing, I personally have had no experience with PWR, but as I said in an earlier post Paul’s dad owned K&J radiators, Natra bought them out and then Adelaide Radiators bought Natra.
I was told by K&J they made the radiator cores for Paul and he made the tanks and welded them on, at the time I was looking to make an intercooler for the Imp.
When I was building/repairing radiators there is nothing wrong with K&J aluminum cores, they bought the plant that makes them out from the States.
I have no idea how PWR welding is, but from photos I have seen and one aluminum radiator assembly for a Morgan plus 8 built in QLD by the old K&J, they look good.
If I was to make a complete aluminum assembly today I would have it welded by Mr. Magic in Dubbo, ex RAAF frame welder.
I have seen him weld a hole up in an aluminum air conditioning pipe and I have sent radiators to him to have stone holes welded in the aluminum tubes, magic.
The other thing you could do is talk to Adelaide Radiators in Adelaide, not the branch in Sydney, they have a hot line and they have engineers that may be able to work out what you need in the size of a core.
It could be made in either aluminum or copper/brass.
Give me a ring if you like, I could help you with a copper/brass unit.

Wasn’t thinking, Adelaide Radiators are ADRAD.pencil wrote:Hey Graham - I agree with the 3 row in cu/br but would use one of the natra spec 8.4mm tube pitch 58mm core (16mm sized tubes) with 16 fpi. I had one of these in my 28 Chev roadster & it cooled 656 hp. If alloy is the req'd Adrad in Qld will make to drawing as well - very nice pieces

Sounds like a nice radiator, the close pitch (8.5) is another option, more tubes, more coolant.
Aluminum makes a nice radiator and are light, I am using one in the Imp, aluminum core and plastic tanks, small and light.
2, 10” fans fit on the rear.

I got the drawing back from PWR and there was this extra take off nozzle shown. I rang them and asked about it and they said it was an internal nozzle for the bottom tank and was required because the inlet and outlets are on the same side.
DOH!!! The things that stare you in the face but you don't see. I was only getting flow down one half of my radiator.
Anyway, I'll go ahead with the alloy job, it will support up to 400HP they say.
That's more than enough for my needs.
Next problem I've got is fluctuating oil pressure. I've checked with a mech gauge, changed the oil and the filter and still the same.
Looks like a pump problem, probably a sticky relief valve, so i have to drop the sump while I wait for the new radiator to arrive, which won't be till after Christmas.

That's ok, she's on the road now and no signs of vibration what so ever from the tailshaft.adventurekel wrote:No luck on the Guibo yet. Will try a foreign contact.
I did a bit of digging myself regards Lada donuts and found that the interchangability applys to the earlier 105 series Alfas that had a lot of commonality in that area with Fiats. Fiats being the basis for Ladas.
The later transaxle alfas, GTV's, Alfettas, 75s, 90s etc are different.
