Any idea how strong early mustang 8 3/4 diffs are as I'm running around 388hp and are about to tubb the ol 27 chrysler....15x12's.. should I cut down the current 8 3/4 diff or go to the common 9" ....This is mainly a visual thing ( big boots) with maybe an odd run down the 1/4. nothing serious..

Well Franky...I have the Mustang diff in my 34. I was led to believe they were as strong as the 9" but when it developed a clunk going between forward and reverse I took it out. The casing around the planetary gears had broken...I took it to a reputable diff shop and he said they are very weak around the spigot area...I assumed that was where mine had broken. The 34 had 30" high tyres for a long time and he said that would have done it..So he said never to put the boot into it..they will blow up.
See ya on the road or at a run somewhere!
