Looks like the Freighter may have given up part of it's roof, too.

This pickup belongs to Reg Paine from Hobart!

I saw Rusty Walkers Essex for sale in Just Cars today, $48000. Bet he never thought it would go for that sort of cash.

King Willy wrote:Michael37, I don't know. If you look at the first pic of it, it appears to have a Tas plate on it. Surely there is a Hobart rodder who can shed some light on this, Tub1935, are you hearing the call?

Up to 1994 now.
When you go on an Andy Morris rod run, you are expected to use your car. This pic was taken halfway on the run, back in Jan 94.
Andys A up front, Peter Briggs; Pontiac, Greg King; A Tudor, Tony Hudson; 35 Chev, Dale Smart; 39 Ford, Lindsay Greenwood; 38 Ford, Wayne Lockhart; 36 Plymouth, Nick Gould; 38 Chev, Peter Stevenson; 34 Ford and Andrew Wadley; 34 Plymouth. Nice Tassie road, believe me, it was rough, rutted and dusty!
I should also add that there is rods from each Tassie club on that run, the whole state was covered!

Briggs Pontiac at VDSRC USA Day. Jan 94.

Saw this car at the recent Bright Rod Run. It hasn't changed a bit!

Image
Stephen's 34 Chev. Ulverstone showground. Mar 94.

The Chev was brand new here. We didn't get it registered until Nov 94.
A lot of miles on the girl now its been to WA 3 times, Qld 4 times & everywhere in between.
It is still flat black but has flames on it now

Gee that looks a lot like one on the Central Coast. I'll ask the owner thursday night to see if it's the same one.

Just had a look thru my photos; the guys from the club did a garage crawl about this time last year, and came to see my start on the Dodge.

This is Steve's car parked at my place..

Do you reckon it's the same car?

Without a doubt.
Only a few small changes over the years and a very nice car indeed. 8)

Yes it is the same one. "Pommy" Steve. He came over to Tassie for the regional Nats.
He travelled to WA with us in the same coupe a few years later

I was wondering if dad's car would rate a mention. He still has it, hasn't changed much since this photo, we went for a run in it on the weekend, he still drives it all the time.

This car still looks the same, it is down in Hobart now.

Thanks for posting these, it brings back memories! I was only born in '83, but I have been to every USA Day (my father is a Van Diemen) and remember pretty much all the cars.

Hey Adam, I had your Dad's "other" car, Nick's old blue MOPAR, as one of my wedding cars. Grant drove it down to Devonport, we had Stevo's 34 Ford for the other car.

Cheers

Ah right! He sold that many moons ago to Wayne Bellinger (orange Chev pickup, which has also been sold) who painted it purple and changed the wheels. It was sold again to Tom (?) and last I heard it was up for sale. I did see a pic of it in another thread with steelies and white-walls, I don't know if Tom sold it or not.

Stevo's car is up for sale too. He was trying to get me to buy it but I'd already committed to buying something else.
