Exterminator FJ at Brooksfield

Post by NAGARI51 »

As a spectator at Brooksfield Dragway one of my hero cars was the Exterminator FJ Holden. Pat and Graham Elliott have shared pics of their car and kindly allowed me to post them here for others to enjoy. Thanks also to Barnsey's thread on posting from photophuket - was a battle.

In its class the Exterminator proved almost unbeatable over the 1/8th at Brooksfield. In outright competition the big 3 were Ken Virgin's VW, Peter Hines's Munster and the Exterminator although all three ran in different classes. The Exterminator also took out Junior Mr Holden Eliminator on the East Coast.

The line up of sedan racers in one pic we have seen from other posts but previously viewed from the startline.

The spectator car park departure shot shows the wide variation of cars from Hillmans to Cussos, Valiants to a plethora of early Holdens and jogged a memory of washing the grit out of my hair when home as Brooksfield had to be one of the dustiest places on earth. But it was drag racing and I guess that is all that mattered back then. Col
