Re: Garage buddies
Well, looks like it may be curtain call for ol' Bonnie. 12 + 1/2 years old, rescued from a shelter. She's been a great mate, and maybe her time is coming. Spotted a lump on her back right leg on the weekend. Doing a course of antibiotics first, just in case it's an infection. If that doesn't work, then we'll know what the real problem is.
Spanish Dancer.
She's a brown dog, so a pretty tough ol' specimen.
The kids gave her a big hug tonight, She's the dog they grew up with, moreso than Jodie my first Kelpie. (rescued too).
I think they will be hit harder with this one's passing. Here's hoping she only has an infection, and can last another year or so.
The waterworks were damaged by having 10 pups at 1.5 years old, so she has a few nicknames. Mrs. Peebody, Ploppy pants, Boofhead, Dribble bum, but we wouldn't have her any other way. Never barks, digs, just lazes about, knowing she's had a "Rails Run" in life. Just like a lazy brown dog does.
I just told the Mrs & kids to prepare, here's hoping she hangs on for a while yet. But if the news ain't good, we know what must be done.
Cheers, Mudgy.

Re: Garage buddies
Hey Mudgy
I hope Bonnie sees a few more sunrises. Many years ago my female dog developed some lumps and when I had them checked out, the vet said that it is common for a de-sexed female dogs to develop fatty cysts later in life. In essence, it may not be bad news. My dog lived on for many years until complications with (heart) old age caught up with her and she had to be put to sleep. She had a great life however I haven't owned a dog again since
I am building a new daily driver at the moment at my good mate's place and he has two dogs that I have gotten to know quite well. When I am under the car working, my relationship with both dogs has progressed to straight up tongue kissing in short time and they both approach this expression of affection with zero foreplay
This is a pic of Roxy. She is approx 12 years old now, gentle and I have done a heap of stuff in that time with her - I have even snorkelled with her
This is a pic of Bobby and he is not as gentle and seems to love my bourbon
One thing about dogs that I love about them is, no matter how hard or bad your day has been they are unconditionally ecstatic to see you and I find that grounding.

Re: Garage buddies
Well, My Ol' brown mate has lost the battle.
Mrs and kids took her today, I'm stuck in Adelaide ( I knew this would happen)
RIP ol'girl.
Strange thing though.... tonight I was seated at table 13 for dinner. (her age)
Hire car (SA plates) ends in "BON"
Mudgy.
