Hi Folks,

A long shot. This was posted a loooong time ago. Just wondering if anyone had any info on it? I don't think OP has been on for a while.

Cheers,

You never know your luck in the big city.
There's a "Mercmad" on the Shannon's website. Might be worth contacting him via there?

Yeah. I've changed my signature. The old one was out of date...

My neighbour has a very derelict late 30's Chev together with a 1915/16 International Truck bulldozed into a heap just his side of our boundary fence.

I tried to get him to either give or sell the Inter to a local restoration crew who doing up the same truck.

No interest in saving any of it.

The Chev is a 4 cylinder but pretty complete with front end, transmission and diff plus the dash and scuttle.

Such a waste.

That International would have to have solid rubber tyres on it wouldn’t it? Similar era to the original Bulldog Macks?

Yes it would have ben solid tyres.

This was the front half of the chassis with engine and front end. The radiator was missing but it had the hard to find coolant casting on top of the engine. That casting was the one bit the local Mens Shed would have loved. Instead it will slowly rust away.

It was used as a water pump as the transmission was gone but the flywheel was 6"wide and used with a flat belt.

That's all supposition but it makes sense in a farming area.

The mine in the NT that I did my trade with was on a big cattle station and under the shearing shed (before they woke up that sheep were not suited to desert conditions) was a very tidy long abandoned 35 Ford coupe, I pestered the cocky so much trying to buy it that he banned me from the place  Anyway, when he died I went to work on his Son and got the same treatment, a couple of years later they decided to burn the old wool shed down, with the coupe still under there  After that we had four years of bad drought and they walked off the place broke, and I have believed in Karma ever since

People are strange, aren't we all a bit.

Whilst they have no use or want of an item they won't sell it or pass it on to someone who will appreciate it.

The neighbour is a nice guy but just isn't interested in doing anything with them, or allowing anything to happen with them.

They're overgrown by scrub and could be pulled 2metres onto my place and then trucked out.

It isn't like we need to run a D9 over his bowling green grass, which he doesn't have.
