35 Ford Coupe

Post by FRANK BASILE »

I wonder if anyone can clear up a mystery for me,I built a 35Ford Coupe in the early 70,s ,I swapped it for a 34 Sedan in 1975, When I parted with it it was 283Chev pwrd/3 speed manual with 9" rear. It,s colour was like a pale light metallic claret ,When I last saw it around 1980 it was in Huntingdale Vic,it had a chop top,and was a light metallic green, and had been fitted with a back seat. One feature ,identifiable would be the battery fitted to a recess in the firewall, where the original toolbox sat,I have the chassis # from my old rego papers ,at work,Interested to know where the coupe ended up............Frank.

I'm not sure if it was the one belonged to a member of confederates, from memory that car was a darker green, Vedoro Green as used on Monaros or similar.

If it's the same car, one of the members might know where it ended up.

Carps & Frank
If you're talking about Domenic Calderone's, I was talking to Mark Fenton at Berwick swap meet and he said that car is still his and in the same area.

That's the car i was talking about.

So I figure it's stored in Domenic's shed, mark will know coz he's probably been trying to buy it from him.

Not sure if it's the car Frank is asking about.

PS,I don't think Domenic still has the car,I remember doing a number of small jobs for a guy who said the car was his, this was maybe 10/12 years ago, can't remember his name just now, senior moments,I guess. :D ,Col.

Nope, I got it from Reg (Butch) Leitch, although I'm told Domenic owned it breifly before that.

Mark is usually pretty good on knowing where cars are stashed, so I'll check with him and see how long back it was he last saw it or spoke to Domenic.

So you mean it gets worse? I couldn't for the life of me remember Domenic's name only the car and that he was a member of Confederates.

Thanks ram-rod,More bits of the jigsaw puzzle,I was starting to think she had disappeared off the face of the earth,it has been over 25yrs since I saw her last.,I swapped it for a restored 34Ford back in ,75 ,and fitted a Chev to the 34,the guy who did the swap with me,later traded the coupe to a car yard in Bulleen,If I had known before he actually did this ,I would have asked for a back swap, and let him trade the 34, Of all the stupid things I have done in my lifetime,I reckon that saga was tops........Frank.

Hi Frank,a friend of mine named Alan Mc Donald bought the 35 from that car yard,I drove him there to pick it up (traded a V8 XA Fairmont for it),he used it as a daily driver for a few years until the 283 ran out of life, man did it smell. I think it was Dom who bought it then ,but not sure. I agree ,it was probably not the best deal you've ever done, that car had one of the nicest bodies ever.Sadly it copped a roof chop, louvers and some scruffy "engineering", I think you'll be dissapointed if you do find it,regards,Col.
