Wouldn't that wear the belt much faster having the toothed side running over a smooth pulley instead of a toothed one?

Probably does wear a bit quicker that way, but not uncommon. Running the idler on the inside of the belt is not great for belt wrap or orbiting either, though he doesn't have much choice given the pulley diameter and distance between centres.

The fuel pump drive/timing cover is pretty nifty.

They certainly have the suspension setup well. Lifts the front wheels drops them gently down and runs dead straight. Love it. From when drag cars looked like something 8) 8)
