T700 info needed
On top of an early ('94 Statesman) T700 there is a small (3/16" maybe) tube sticking out, pointing backwards. Where does this go/lead to? Also, there is a round electrical connector on the RHS, with several pins. (Not the one on the extension housing) . Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this?
Does this box use a vacuum modulator?

Re: T700 info needed
For 94 I would say that the box may still be 4L60[ updated T700] . Similar to the unit in my 93 VP Commodore Anyway the tube is a breather . No vac modulator , trans is cable . The socket would be for the Torque Converter Clutch solenoid . If your vehicle is a 94 it most likely will have gone to the 4L60E box that is electronically controlled and that socket goes to a trans control module .

Re: T700 info needed
So pre 94 would be the 'Non electronic" boxes? I don't want the trans with the external control box. When you say it is a cable type, is that the kickdown which is operated by the cable? If so, where does it go in?

Hi,
My 1991 VN box has the kick-down cable going in the right side, behind where the oil lines attach, cable goes down into the top surface of the casting that lives over the pan.
Cheers, Mudgy
I'll take a few pics
*edit* here you go. But this is a 1991 trans.

Re: T700 info needed
the vn vp v6 & v8 boxes run a cable up to the throttle body alot easer to setup . you can get a control box for the electronic type . that is what i have been told some one on here might know where to get them from

Re: T700 info needed
The cable on the right side of the trans is a TV[throttle valve] cable, not a kick down. It controls internal pressures, and if not connected properly can burn up the trans in a mile or less. Do lots of research on this as the geometry, throttle angle and travel are all important.

VP Commodore 4L60 .
VR Commodore and It's upmarket variant was the first full electronic . 4L60E . As explained , the TV cable adjustment is critical for all . Not hard to do .
The 4L60 appears to be an upgraded or improved T700 .
There is a publication that covers these three boxes with rebuild ,interchange of parts and upgrades . "GM Automatic overdrive Transmission" Builder's and Swappers Guide" . # SA 140 under the SA" performance how" series .
Try Graffiti publications for it.

Re: T700 info needed
So this is a 12v solenoid which is activated to go into overdrive? Is that actuated in the stock car by the O/D switch on the shifter or console? (I haven't owned anything newer than a powerglide, so this is the first O/D trans I will muck around with)

Re: T700 info needed
No it is just to supply 12v to the lock up in the converter

Re: T700 info needed
By supplying 12 volts to pin 4 on the connector, and a minor rewire of the internal solenoids, you can set it up to lock only in 4th gear.32coupe wrote:No it is just to supply 12v to the lock up in the converter

This site has a bunch of good info on setting up a 700R4/4L60. The lock up info using the internal pressure switch is on the second page.

Thanks for posting that "enjenjo". That article looks to have some really good info.

I'll second that website, I got a lot of good info from there when I was installing my T700.
