uni yoke

Post by pilot48 »

Can anyone tell me if there is a uni yoke with a normal uni that will replace the big rubber thing in the back of 4L60 trans out of a vy commodore. I want to match up to a jag rear

i just put a vx v6 and trans into a ford transit, the vx transmission had the same rubber coupling. i used a slip yoke out of an earlier commodore, same spline, same od. not sure what year it was out of but i think you will find that there is a heap that will fit. someone else on here will know a bit more. i am not conversant with gm transmissions but if like ford there is most likely not that many types as far as spline count and seal diameter. cheers.

If that rear coupling is still slide fitted to a splined shaft and not a captive flange then the earlier 4L60 or 4L60E yolks should fit ,as T700 ..

Thanks for the reply it is a slip in on a spline. So I will look for a yoke from an earlier trans .

So maybe a VN or VP commodore one will do?

Thanks Frank my son has a trans and tailshaft out of a commodore and I tried the yoke in my trans and it fitted perfect so I'll have to check the model of the car it came out of and go from there. Will have compare the uni size of the jag against the commodore .

I used Hardy Spicer uni's.
Number for the jag diff end (series 3 sovereign 1983) K5-13XR
Number for VN calais transmission end (1991) RUJ2038R / RUJ2038 I think the "R"just means regreasable? I used The R one.

That suits a 1350 joint. Depending on what you have up front, a 1310 should be adequate.

Bolt pattern for Dana 44 Jaguar with 1310 is 2" X 2.375" with a male pilot of 2.375".

Assuming a late box. If it is a Trimatic though ,be careful as they used different unis for 6 and V8 . The V8 version has a wider yolk . Better to use the beefier VN onwards .
