falcon rotors fitted to hk -hqholden stubs

Post by monte »

I have bought some HQ disc brake stubs and I seem to recall that falcon rotors have been fitted to these before ,anybody got any ideas or will I just go the usual way and buy blank hq rotors and drill them for ford wheels .I just thought it might be an easier way to go if the ford rotors fit and the calipers still work with them ,thanks :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Hi, monte

P76 rotors have ford stud pattern, and you can buy a fitting kit. I remember it being a different oil seal and 2 spacers for the brake calliper. They narrow your track by about 16mm each side as well. Hopper stoppers sell the kit ( not expensive) as well as the new rotors.

Cheers GT.

on my last build i got blank hq disc's and had them drilled to ford patern....then the whole front braking system was still matched and no need
for any extra "engineering"....read that as keeping it simple :D
cheers joe

I seem to remember putting Ford discs on a HQ stub and it was simple, take the ford discs and the holden stubs to a bearing shop and they will measure the fitting and find the right bearings.

Thanks for all your thoughts ,I rang Hopperstoppers and they do make HQ hubs that fit Ford wheels $200 each so now I guess I have to figure out which is the better way to go ,By the time I buy the undrilled blanks at about $300 and get them drilled to take the ford studs ,then have to but the ford studs as well seems i would be cheaper to buy the
hopperstopper ones only thing is postage could be a bit expensive .Will have to check that out before making up my mind :D :D :D :D

Frank I am thinking another way now ,I could get a kit of HQ rotors ,bearings ,caps ,nuts and washers for about $200 delivered here from ebay ,not china shit either ,and I could go HQ front wheels ,maybe a mulifit wheel if I need a spare wheel .makes sense to me as everything is store bought too .Think that is the way I will go :D :D :D :D

if you get the ones from hoppers for $200 each is a one off cost . you may not have to ever replace them again .

Interesting as they are half the price of the hopperstopper ones ,the add says that included in the price is drilled to whatever you want, seems a big difference in price :D :D
The other thing is I have to buy new bearings $60 plus the studs $50 then postage ,say about $50 so will have to think about it :D :D

Just thinking if I went the HQ kit I could buy mulitfit wheels ,holden on the front and ford on the rear ,seems a good cheap way to go and TAC will accept them as long as they are not slotted :D :D :D :D

Multi fit steelies are readily available for that combo Monte . Check out places like "BCI Wheels" website . Different widths and back spacing in the mix.
