Yeah. I've changed my signature. The old one was out of date...

Top job on the headers.
I was thinking of making my own until my brother gave me a set, now I just have to fix them up where they warped due to welding.

Keep up the good work, and the posts.

Progress has slowed a little bit, but I’m working on the last tube now. I found a reasonably priced tig welder on Craigslist. I pick it up tomorrow. Hopefully I can catch on to this welding process quickly.

If you have done oxy welding before, you will find tig similar.

Biggest tip I can give is match the filler rod and tungsten to the metal thickness where you can.
I use a lot of mig wire as a filler rod, it is the same type and harness, when it matches the panel thickness.
For tungstens I always use Lanthanated and works perfectly on stainless as well.

Here it is. I put it all together, and messed around a little bit with it yesterday, burning holes in tubing, and welding them up. I need to buy 1/16 tungsten, and more 1/16 filler rod. (The machine came with 3/16 tungsten). Now, I need to be patient, and practice. Based on my limited success yesterday, I think I can grasp this.

Good job mate. Wow that welder has just about as many - maybe more dials as my guitar Amp !!!

Cheers, Mudgy

I’ve got the hang of this enough to start welding up the tubing, and I think I see some improvement every day. Anything I can call progress is good.
