I picked up a few boxes of butyl based thermal and sound barrier. I started with what I think will be the most difficult piece of the floor, the transmission cover. After 6-7 hours, an a lot of slicing and dicing, this is what I ended up with. This is tedious, but I got it all covered, except where the accelerator pedal goes, and with no overlaps

Looks like a really nice wheel for your car. I had a similar issue and solved it by welding a new centre in. Click my website link below then click steering and scroll down. This is a photo from the process.
I never make the same mistake twice, I do it 5 or 6 times just to be sure !!!
I didn’t think I had enough projects half done, so I took my instrument cluster apart in preparation for the new gauges from Speedhut. I’ll post up pictures when they arrive in a couple of weeks.

Love your work.
Great mix of traditional, stock and late model tech. Really well done.
And back to under-floor vs firewall mount master cylinders. I spent my misspent youth battling the under floor master cylinders. Then I bought an FC. So easy!
Just something I observed: We here in Oz have it relatively easy when it comes to brakes.
If your (Australian-based) car has underfloor brakes, at least the master cylinder access hole is easy to get to. It's right near the driver's door, so lifting the carpet is fairly easy.
Not so with left hand drive cars. The brake pedal is right next to the transmission tunnel. So the access hatch is harder to get to, and you have to lift a bigger section of carpet.
Ditto with firewwall brakes. We here in Oz have the master cylinder close to the right hand side of the firewall, next to the right hand side cylinder bank ( on a V8). More room.
Yeah. I've changed my signature. The old one was out of date...
What if climate change IS a hoax, and we make a better world for nothing?
Agree with firewall mount brakes. I only open the LH bonnet side on my 34 to show the engine, and have deliberately made that the 'pretty' side. All the ugly stuff is on the drivers side and who cares anyway. I hate holes in the floor or firewall, last car to have one was an FC in 68 when I tried to make a cheap heater.. With road noise and engine noise reduced, plus easy access in a space otherwise un-used it is a no brainer. I recently helped a friend make and fit a heat shield to his booster under his 32, it was, and still is, less than 1/2 inch from the exhaust.. I made an alloy cover to go over the plastic reservoir on mine, details on my page, link below.
All the best for 2024...

I got my gauges yesterday. 2-5/8” Volts and fuel level on the left. 4” GPS speedometer, 2-5/8 water temp and oil pressure on the right. Turn and high beam indicators built in to speedometer.
