G'day, pretty sure its just an O-ring right and not a boot as such ?

This is an aftermarket one and it has a rubber boot where it goes into the case of the auto ,the rubber seals it inside the case hole and the top bit is expanded so it is supposed to seal on the top but mine is split and leaks when sitting ,driving me nuts ,i hate oil leaks .The original ones had a couple of o rings on them that sealed inside the hole and they worked ok ,really stupid idea from ford and the later ones went to a pan fill that bolted it ,great idea :D :D :D :D

It appears that most C4's with the dipstick / filler tube going into the case (not the pan / sump) had O ring seals on the tube but some used Monte's boot

Is the boot only for aftermarket dipstick tubes ?

Yer Greg its the 3d one and its an aftermarket thing ,but seems nobody in AU sell the boots ,the original ones were ok with the o ring or maybe some had 2 o rings but some of the aftermarket shit had an o ring on the top that is supposed to seal the hole in the case but it dont work cause thats not how it was designed ,I put one of them in the new project and its still leaking fluid everywhere ,the flexible ones look ok too and might save up for one of them as I dont have a lot of room to play with :D

Careful Monte.
Walking into a tranny joint and asking for an O ring could get you in all kinds of trouble! :P :P
Yeah. I've changed my signature. The old one was out of date...
